Annotation: Lightweight symmetric ciphers are applied to secure confidentiality of communication among computationally constrained subjects. There are various proposals that balance security requirements and speed. The goal of the thesis is to analyze selected ciphers and their resistance against cryptanalysis. The main focus is on more recent methods, such as differential meet-in-the-middle cryptanalysis, and how they can be applied in selected ciphers. Proposed attacks should be evaluated with respect to their time, memory and data complexity, supported with experimental results and validation whenever possible.

Keywords: cryptanalysis, Meet-in-the-middle, lightweight ciphers
